Just when you think you have her figured out, April’s already morphing. In
a cocoon, with wings in mind, she wants to make you fly with her:
“Creating an experience for the listener is my ultimate goal.
I use all of myself. All my body, mind, heart and soul.”
Growing up in the marshlands of South Florida, April appreciated the
natural beauty of the tropics, but knew there was a much bigger world
for her to explore. Singing as a little girl, she had watched her parents
perform from the wings of the Grand Ole Opry. April was hooked ever
The power of music to create and effect worlds through media, art and
science is a true passion. The latest project ‘April Henry and the Habit’ is
a unique exploration of the interconnectedness of these mediums.
Recently, April won 2nd place in the prestigious International
Songwriting Competition (ISC) for her song “Dangerous,” (recognized by
the ISC panel of judges of industry icons and professionals like Peter
Gabriel, Tom Waits, Adele, Robert Smith, and Amanda Ghost — president
of Epic Records). Also, in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC)
Unsigned Only 2012 she became a semi-finalist in the Vocal
Performance category for “If You Go Away,” among other honors.
A graduate of New World School of the Arts Conservatory, April honed
her talents and passion for stage performance. As an actress, she has
performed all over South Florida and Off Broadway in NYC, as well as in
TV, Commercials and Film. Bringing theatricality to music, when you
see her on stage, you don’t just get a singer, you get a performance.
April has performed to sold out houses all over the world from venues
like the Bitter End, Feinsteins at the Loews Regency, the Jackie Gleason
(Fillmore) Theater, Sunfest (opening for Michelle Branch and Gavin
DeGraw) to as far as Bar Queen in Japan.
In addition to music, April has a passion for animals and the environment
as well as Human Rights. She supports the NRDC, Ocean Conservancy,
